Lawrence Kasdan & Simon Kinberg Will Write/Produce Star Wars VIII + Star Wars IX

In what seems like a crazy Star Wars rumor that is likely to be totally true; the co-writer of The Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi, Raiders of the Lost Ark, and more—Lawrence Kasdan—is reportedly set to write Star Wars: Episode VIII, presumably the sequel to Star Wars: Episode VII. (Which we already know is being written by Michael Arndt.)

Additionally, Deadline and The Hollywood Reporter claim that X-Men: First Class producer Simon Kinberg may be co-producing or writing either Episode VIII or Episode IX. Lucasfilm claims any official announcement will show up on StarWars.com. If it does turn out to be true, this all could be the best news for the Star Wars franchise since Alec Guinness agreed to play Obi-Wan Kenobi.
